I have always been a huge fan of Maitreya. To be honest, I have over 50 pairs of Maitreya shoes in my inventory … insane, right? Anyway, I just can’t keep away from their new releases. And I have been hearing both good and bad mumbles about the new sculpty top and belt, so I wanted to try it out for myself to determine my own verdict. Sometimes it’s much better to come to your own conclusions rather than trusting popular opinion. Anyway, here’s my report…

I decided to give the new sculpty blouse at Maitreya a try. I have heard that it is really difficult to adjust and, quite frankly, that it is virtually unwearable. Well, I’m no genius, but I can edit and resize to make something work if I think it’s worth it. So, I snagged it in this awesome design and decided to make it work for me. To my delight, it was really easy to resize using the resizer script built into it. And it only required a bit of adjusting to make it fit my avatar properly. Maybe I am the exception here, but it didn’t take any more work than any other prim that didn’t fit immediately, and the resizer script makes it pretty damn easy. Perhaps the top’s shape was just more conducive to my avatar’s shape than most others… dunno. But, I’m happy with it, so that’s that.
However, although I usually suggest wearing the AO version of difficult prim objects, I didn’t care for this one. So, I chose not to wear the AO version this time, and the top still worked well with my regular AO (although, I will add that my regular AO is NOT funky by any means). So, if you have any confidence in your ability to resize and edit prims to fit you better, this top should be no problem for you. Don’t be scared to experiment with it!

I wanted to construct a look that is a bit different from some of the other ones I have been seeing on the feed. Particularly, I wanted to wear something underneath the sculpty top as well as NOT pair it with one of the new Maitreya jeans skirts, or ANY jean skirt for that matter. In my brainstorming, I remembered this awesome ripped-up hoodie from [Sweetest Good-bye*], and I thought it would work really well. It has a great neutral texture with amazing shading, rips, and wrinkles. And the hoodie prim and its collar are really cute. Although the ripped aspects are a bit of a departure from the rest of the outfit, I really think it adds more depth and works well!

The skirt is an awesome find from BP* (BettiePage). It has been sitting in my inventory for a while, waiting for the perfect outfit to find it. Well, this is the one! The gorgeous cream hue is a nice echo of the hoodie. And the adorable dots enhance the colors of the sculpty top very well. I absolutely love the frilly underlayer of this skirt, not to mention the great overall shape and movement. Soooo adorable!

For shoes, I chose another pair of trusty boots from Maitreya. The gorgeous Soho boots in Champagne Suede are a terrific match to the sculpty top. The grand scheme of this outfit was overall understated, with muted, neutral colors, so these boots fit in perfectly. Besides, they have such gorgeous, slouchy uppers and a super sexy boot base and heel that their style and grace translate easily into this ensemble.

I wanted to accessorize just a bit, being careful not to add too much activity to the look to avoid detracting from the great character of the rest of the pieces. So, I added these amazing boho-looking hoop earrings in brass and mother of pearl from EarthStones. I also found this adorable tortoise shell bracelet from Essentia. It has a beautiful texture and a came in a fatpack of really great color options.

Last, but not least, I’m wearing the new Maitreya Piper II hairdo again, but this time in copper. I can’t get enough of this hairstyle … I may never take it off! Also, I’m a newfound skin addict and just purchased my first LAQROKI skin. The new Elin Glow skins are GORGEOUS, with a beautiful clean skin tone and amazingly plump, colorful lips. I even love the eyebrows, which are a little more realistic than most skins I wear. And the nose is adorable. I might have a new favorite!

sheek - a misspelling of chic, as in fashionable or stylish. If you spell chic this way, you most likely have no clue what chic means... Pretty much sums it up! I blog what I like, and I like what I blog. Feel free to let me know if you like what you see.
