Dress Me Up Challenge #1: Cerrie Janus

Take 1 by Stacie Pryor.

Finally, after taking a few days to really assess the suggestions sent to me through the Dress Me Up Challenge, I have started assembling some outfits.  So, without further adieu, here’s installation numero uno in the Dress Me Up Challenge with suggestions courtesy of Fashion Ascension’s own, Cerrie Janus…

Here’s what Cerrie had to say:

“OH I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY…mwahahahahahahahaaaaa *snorts* Ok I would love for you to try some new skins! How about something like Chai’s new line with freckles! Red heads and freckles, a must. I also would love to see you grunge out a bit. Try some tops from Desert Moon Clothier or Dutch Touch. Would like to see you wear jeans that have some dirt to em as well. League has some called Woodstock in a dirty feel. Perfect. And shoes…no boots no heels. I would like you to try some flats or chucks, but think dirt my dear. Head over to Monogrind for some things. And hair. I know you are traditionally red and stick to a style or two, well I’m busting you out. I would love to see you try something mahogany. ETD or Philotic Energy perhaps. yes I think all that will do nicely!”

Well, apparently she has been waiting for SOME TIME to get these suggestions over to me.  NOW I understand why she wanted me to participate in this challenge … sneaky sneaky, Cerrie … SNEAKY SNEAKY!

So, I started with something simple and headed over to League to grab up the jeans she recommended.  WOW!  These jeans are an absolute knock-out pair!  Keeping with the grungy theme Cerrie had proposed, I chose the Woodstock Jeans in Grunge, which were the dirtiest looking pair I could find.  I absolutely love the holes and rips, the dirty stains, and overall grungy feel of them.  I thought it might be best to build the rest of the outfit off this pair of jeans, so I was off to a good start.

Then I headed over to Dutch Touch to find a some options for tops.  I thought I had the perfect one in mind from a prior trip there, and I was right.  It works really well with the jeans.  I chose the 83 Combat set, with comes with the brown tanktop, the fishnet undershirt, and bright orange bra top.  I wore all three to get some good layering in, and I absolutely love the way the three look together.  Dirty, grungy, ripped … I think this might be what Cerrie had in mind.

I pulled out some shoes I already owned, the Urban Bomb Unit PornStar Xtra Hi-Tops, which I knew would be easy to color-change to suit this outfit.  Cerrie had suggested flats or chucks, no boots or heels (I cried!), so I knew these hi-top chucks would be perfect.  I wore only the bottoms of the shoes and color-changed the fabric to leather, which gave me this awesome brownish leathery feel, which went really well with the top.  YAY for color-change options!

Cerrie wanted me to wear some hair in a more mahogany color, so I took her suggestion and headed over to Philotic Energy to see what I could find.  Since, I’m usually a little narrow-minded when it comes to hair, and I tend to stick with both colors and styles from TRUTH (sorry, but I’m a hardcore fan!), I am ashamed to admit that I have never even been to Philotic Energy before.  That being said, I couldn’t wait to actually branch out a little, and Philotic Energy certainly didn’t disappoint.  Keeping Cerrie’s mahogany color suggestion in mind, I looked for a messier, grungier hairstyle.  I finally settled on this one, in plum, which was as close to mahogany as I could get, and I couldn’t be happier.  It has a great just-rolled-out-of-bed look to it, and the color is amazing.  Basically, I just love this hair!

For accessories, again I took Cerrie’s recommendations and headed over to Monogrind for some options.  I settled on these great buckled armbands and gloves and this oh-so-awesome rusty belt set.  The armbands and gloves were HUGE, so I had to use the resize menu to size them down quite a bit.  But, other than that, I thought they worked really well with this outfit, especially with the belt.  I remembered this awesome necklace from Shiny Things, so I headed over there to see if it would work with the look.  Sure thing, it looked great, so I grabbed it up in a flash.

The only part of Cerrie’s suggestions that I didn’t use for this post was the freckled skin, which I didn’t think would look right for this look.  So, I will be incorporating it into one of my looks to come soon.  Don’t worry, Cerrie!  You’ll get your freckles!

Thanks, Cerrie, for the awesome suggestions!  I can’t wait to get my next look rolling!
